The General Election is November 8, and early voting runs October 24–November 4. This election will not only determine the next U.S. president; it will determine who comes to Austin in January to make critical decisions about the future of public education in Texas. Select Driver License Offices Open Saturdays

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is reminding Texans in advance of the upcoming General Election that Election Identification Certificates (EIC), which can be used for voting purposes, are available year-round at all Texas driver license offices. In an ongoing effort to ensure Texans have access to EICs, DPS is offering Saturday hours on Oct. 22 and Oct. 29 at select driver license offices to issue EICs. Read more

Halloween is the highest candy sales day of the year with nearly 600 million pounds of Halloween candy sold and an average household spending of about $44. Sadly, it is also the deadliest night for pedestrians with twice as many child pedestrians being killed while walking on Halloween as compared to any other day. Districts of Innovation Plan

House Bill 1842, created in the 84th Legislative Session, provides opportunities for traditional independent school districts to exempt themselves from some parts of the Texas Education Code (TEC), giving them the same flexibility currently available to Texas’ open enrollment charter schools. Flu Clinics for Students

The Care Van will provide free flu clinics at designated campuses from September 21st - November 30th from 3:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. The vaccination will be offered to children 6 months - 18 years of age. All students must have a parent or guardian present to receive the vaccination. Read more
