After missing on his first six passes against Elsik (Texas), North Shore Mustang quarterback
Bobby Reid composed himself during half-time as the Mustangs clung to a, 14-6, lead at
the break.

“Look guys, I had a bad first half and made a lot of mistakes,” Reid said during a halftime
speech with his offense. “Let’s get something started on the first drive.”

The Mustangs would run off 21 unanswered points in the second half as Reid connected on
4-of-6 passes for 132 yards and one touchdown. The Oklahoma State-commit also had two
touchdowns of 48 and 42-yards called back for penalties. Reid finished 4-of-10 for 132
yards and one touchdown for the game.

Carrying the load on the ground was Mustang senior back Justin McNeese, who had 109
yards on 15 carries and three touchdowns. McNeese broke a 68-yard run on the first
Mustangs’ first play from scrimmage, setting up their first score.

“We played well in the first half and hung with them, but we didn’t play well in the second
half,” Elsik head coach Bill Barron said. “I give their defense the credit because they
adjusted well in the second half. North Shore can lineup with the greatest teams in the
state, they are that good. I just hope we get another shot to play them in the playoffs.”

Ram running back Mitch Odom, the city’s leading rusher before the game, had 109 yards
on 18 carries. Odom is currently being recruited by Colorado, Mississippi State and Kansas,
just to name a few.

“We couldn’t stop their running back in the first half,” North Shore head coach David
Aymond said. “We had to get used to their speed and we responded well in the second
half. Before this game, our defense hadn’t played more than a half.”
