North Shore (Texas) quarterback Robbie Reid could have gotten a head
start on his trip to the University of Texas Friday, playing less than three
quarters in a lopsided 49-3 win over La Porte.
Reid attended the Texas-Kansas State game in Austin on Saturday.
The Mustangs made short work of the Bulldogs, leading 21-3 at the half.
Tailback Justin McNeese had touchdown runs of 39 and 18 yards, while
junior running back Clifford Gilliam scored from 17 yards out.
The most damage La Porte’s offense could muster was injuring was head
coach David Aymond during a play that spilled out of bounds. Aymond
would need 15 stitches on the shin after a spiking from a Bulldog receiver.
McNeese would finish with 170 yards and three touchdowns, as Reid
would throw for 91 yards in the game.
The North Shore defense dominated the Bulldogs, giving up less than 10 yards of total offense in the
second half.
“I was happy how our kids played every down with intensity,” Aymond said.
