Galena Park Soccer Game Recap - Preseason

The Galena Park boys’ soccer program is looking forward to an exciting 2016-2017 season in a new district.  The team has five returning varsity players who are expected to lead the way:  senior, Moises Quiroz; senior, Javier Gomez; senior, Jose Davila; junior, Jonathan Trevino; and sophomore, Carlos Quinones.  Carlos also is a returning All-District player.  The Yellowjackets will have a totally new identity this season as these young men are coming together as family working toward a common goal:  return to playoffs!  Coach Monk is very optimistic about achieving this goal as there is a great deal of strong senior leadership and several key young players who can contribute.  Jose Davila is a four year varsity letterman and his athletic ability at forward this season is going to be something to watch.  Davila is expected to be the main attacker and score several goals for the Yellowjackets.  Rounding off the returners will be seniors, Jose Cardenas, Juan Chavarria, and Merari Gonzalez; juniors, Guillibaldo Villarreal and Miguel Ochoa; sophomores, Brandon Luevano, Jorge Abarca, Cain Gutierrez, Elian Gomora, and Julio Almanza.
