WAMS Football Game Update - Null Middle School

The Woodland Acres football teams played against Null Middle School on September 19th at the North Shore 9th Grade Campus.

7th Grade Team:
The WAMS Hornets played in their first football game of the 2017 season after hurricane Harvey ripped through the area and devastated many or our local neighborhoods.  It is always nice to see life return to normal and what could be more normal than football?  Since neither team had a chance to play their scrimmage games this was the first time on the field for many of these young players.  Despite the lack of experience the Hornets were full of passion and heart as they eagerly engaged Null.  The first half began with both teams exchanging possessions but ultimately the lead went to Null as the half ended 6-0.  Ricardo Villarreal lit up the second half with a 70 plus yard quarterback scramble that breathed some life into the Hornets play.  The defense rallied as well, holding Null on a fourth down play.  Despite the valiant effort the Hornets ended a bit short as Null won 6-13.  Ricardo Villarreal was the Hornet MVP for the night.

8th Grade Gold Team:
The gold team fought in a defensive stalemate against the Null Stallions that ended with a 0-0 tie.  The Hornets were all in with explosive plays on both sides of the ball, but in the end the offense just couldn’t find the end zone.  Players of the game were Luke Kirchner on offense and Jacob Garcia on defense.

8th Grade Black Team:
The black team started off their 2017 season in against a tough Null team that took charge and the game in a 0-34 win.  The WAMS offense started slow but did improve as the game progressed.  Defensively the Hornets played hard and never quit but struggled holding the offense out of the end zone.  Michael Ramirez and Matthew Olmeda were the players of the game.
