        Congratulations to the Galena Park Freshman Tennis team on their tournament at Barbers Hill on Tuesday. Karina Garcia, Karina Hernandez, Jose Romero, and Edward Hurtado all won their first round matches. Top performers for the meet were Terrance Broussard and Gabriel De Arcos taking home the 2nd place medals for Boys Doubles. Congratulations to a GREAT start to the Spring Tennis Season.

        Congratulations to Galena Park High School’s JV Tennis Team as they competed @ Barbers Hill on Thursday and came away with several victories. Players with at least 1 win at the tournament included Luis Rincon, Cesar Garcia, Diego Diaz, David Perez, Laura Chavez, Monique Briones, Krista Ovalle, and Alyssa Gutierrez. Top performers for the meet were in the BOYS SINGLES division, BUDDY HAGAN, bringing home the 2nd place consolation SILVER medal from the tournament. Also, winning the 1st place consolation GOLD medal in MIXED DOUBLES were Justin Dreahn and Jeannette Rodriguez. Once again, congratulations and keep up the GREAT work.

       The Yellow Jacket Varsity Tennis team competed at the Liberty Tennis Invitational last Friday, Feb. 9th. Cesar Saenz, Marha Gaytan, and Caroline Hardman all came away with 1st Round wins in their divisions. Winning consolation silver medals were Samuel Cruz and Jeremy Castaneda in doubles, and Pedro Ruiz in singles. Bringing home consolation gold medals for the Jackets in Mixed Doubles play were David Martinez and Claudia Estrada. Great job guys and good luck at your next meet.

        The Yellow Jacket Varsity Tennis team competed at the Barbers Hill Invitational last Friday, Feb 16th. Cesar Saenz, Marha Gaytan and Pedro Ruiz all came away with 1st Round wins in their divisions.         The Galena Park Freshman Tennis team competed at the Liberty Freshman Invitational on Tuesday, February 27th. Many of the players won their first round matches. Top performers for this tournament include: Nayli Nino who made it to the semi-finals in Girls Singles, Terrance Broussard who won a 2nd place silver medal in the Consolation bracket, and in Boys Doubles—Jorge Zamora and Enrique Bailon bringing home a 2nd place silver medal.         The Yellow Jacket Varsity Tennis team competed at the La Porte Invitational Tournament last Friday, March 2nd. This is the biggest tournament the Yellow Jackets have competed in thus far, with over 32 different high schools making up the list. Top performers for the meet were in the mixed doubles division, Pedro Ruiz and Marha Gaytan who came in 2nd place in the Consolation bracket. In boy’s doubles, David Perez and Diego Diaz played outstanding tennis, coming in 2nd place in the Consolation bracket as well. Great job guys and good luck at your next meet!

        The 9th grade Yellow Jacket tennis team competed at Barbers Hill on Tuesday, March 6th with their BEST performance to date for any tournament this season. In total, the Yellow Jackets compiled a total of 4 gold medals and 6 silver medals for the tournament. Top performers for the meet were (EDWARD HURTADO, taking the OVERALL silver in BOYS SINGLES), (JOEL GARZA, silver medal in BOYS SINGLES consolation), (YASHIN ROBLES & KARINA GARCIA, gold medals in MIXED DOUBLES consolation), (ENRIQUE BAILON & STEPHANY GUTIERREZ, silver medals in MIXED DOUBLES consolation), (TERRANCE BROUSSARD & JOEL CASTRO, silver medals in BOYS DOUBLES consolation) and finally (JORGE ZAMORA & JORGE MARTINEZ, taking gold in BOYS DOUBLES consolation). OUTSTANDING job guys!! Keep up the GREAT work!!!

        The JV Yellow Jacket Tennis Team competed in the Barbers Hill JV Tournament yesterday March 8, 2007. Overall, the Yellow Jackets did really well. Many players and doubles teams won at least 1 match. Top performers for the meet were: (LUIS RINCON, Consolation GOLD MEDAL in BOYS SINGLES), (DIEGO DIAZ and DAVID PEREZ winning a SILVER medal in BOYS DOUBLES) and in (MIXED DOUBLES, JUSTIN DREAHN and JEANNETTE RODRIGUEZ won the 2nd Place overall medal in the CHAMPIONSHIP bracket.) Way to go Yellow Jacket Tennis Team!!

        The JV Yellow Jacket Tennis Team competed in the Liberty JV Tournament yesterday March 20, 2007. Top performers for this meet were all first time medal winners: (BIANCA SALINAS, won the 1st Place Gold Medal in Consolation in Girls Singles), (LAURA CHAVEZ and KRISTA OVALLE, won the 2nd Place Silver Medal in Consolation Girls Doubles), (NAYELI MARTINEZ, won the 2nd Place Silver Medal in Consolation Girls Singles) and finally (LUZ CANTU, winning the 1st place consolation medal in girls singles.) Great job and good luck at your district meet next week, March 28th and 29th at CE King High School.

Re: Results of District 21-4A Tennis Tournament at CE King High School, March 28th, 2007

        The JV and 9th Grade Yellow Jacket tennis teams competed in the District 21-4A Tournament on Wednesday, March 28th, at CE King High School to complete their FINAL tournament for the Spring Tennis Season. The Freshman and JV boys placed 2nd OVERALL in team point standings, while the Freshman and JV girls came in 3rd place OVERALL in team point standings. In all, the Yellow Jackets brought home 15 medals----9 BRONZE medals by (Yashin Robles, Luis Rincon, Diego Diaz, David Perez, Bianca Salinas, Enrique Bailon, Karina Hernandez, Justin Dreahn, and Jeannette Rodriguez), 4 SILVER medals by (Jose Romero, Edward Hurtado, Terrance Broussard and Stephany Gutierrez), and finally, 2 GOLD medals brought home by (Cesar Garcia and Danney Rodriquez).
        Congratulations to the all of the JV and Freshman boys and girls Yellow Jacket tennis teams for a TREMENDOUS showing at their district meet, and for having an OUTSTANDING end to a GREAT season. Great job JACKETS!!!
