Welcome To Cunningham Middle
At Cunningham Middle School we strive to create a safe, college-focused learning environment that emphasizes Maximum Student Learning. In an effort to provide our parents with information regarding educator credentials, we will accommodate written requests for these through the W.C. Cunningham Middle School front office.

New Student Portal of the Texas Assessment Management System—TAMS
What is the Student Portal?
The Student Portal provides parents and students with online access to scores from the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), as well as the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS), including TAKS-Modified (but not including TAKS-Alt), and the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) assessments.
Access to the Student Portal can be located at https://student.tx.pearsonaccess.com/texas-studentportal/home.html
How Do I Login to the Student Portal:
The assessment data in the Student Portal is reached through a Unique Access Code and the student’s birth date as provided on the student’s most recent Confidential Student Report. Students who have lost their Confidential Student Report are instructed to contact their school to retrieve their Unique Access Code.
Once students and parents have logged in, they will be able to examine test scores in detail, as well as link to the User’s Guide for the Student Portal and explanations of the test scores. The birth date, as provided on the student’s most recent Confidential Student Report must be used.
To access the parent flyer in English or Spanish:
For more information about how to login to the Student Portal, see the Student Portal User’s Guide at http://www.TexasAssessment.com.
The Learning Garden by Deja Holmes
The grant we received from LyondellBasell will be used for the construction of a learning garden. The garden will allow activities for students where they will be able to explore and learn about what is being grown. Almost all classes can use the garden to their benefit, especially science. The science department will be using the garden to learn about decomposition and plant responses. CMS is also planning to give away some of the produce we grow to help out the community. A special thanks to Ms. Alejandro for applying and being awarded the grant.

Family Literacy Night
On behalf of the ELA department, we would like to thank the parents, students, and staff personnel that participated in the success of families reading together. Family Literacy Night was filled with eager readers, actively engaged children and even door prizes. We had students to read with their families and take an AR test. Not only did the students get the pleasure of reading with their families, they were able to obtain AR points and a grade for their ELA class. Wow, 2 for the price of one!! We at Cunningham Middle believe that families should read together, and students should be reading daily. Family Literacy Night is just one of the many family engagements that we will have for the 2013-14 school year. Stay tunes for there is more family fun events to come.
