GPISD CTE ECHS First Wave of Students

The first 125 students from GPISD CTE ECHS will begin their journey on August 24, 2015.  Members of the Class of 2019 were selected via a lottery from over 250 interested students, and represented all four middle schools in Galena Park ISD.

Cunningham Middle School – 48 students
Galena Park Middle School – 22 students
North Shore Middle School – 38 students
Woodland Acres Middle School – 17 students

One of the many attractive features of GPISD CTE ECHS is the opportunity for students to earn industry certification in a variety of fields, and in partnership with San Jacinto College.  Two of the most popular programs with the “First 125” are Engineering Graphic Design and Licensed Vocational Nursing.  Other programs of choice were Welding and Diesel Technology, along with Emergency Medical Technician and Medical Assistant.  San Jacinto College has state-of-the-art facilities to accommodate the needs of the students.  The overall goal of the CTE ECHS program is for each student to graduate with a high school diploma, an Associate Degree, and some form of Industry certification that will place them into a competitive pool of candidates for employment or a Baccalaureate degree.
