For more than 60 years, GPHS has maintained a tradition of quality scholastic journalism.  Beginning in 1941, with the publication of the first yearbook the department has evolved and matured to include broadcasting, web design, photo journalism, and desktop publishing.  

Today, the yearbook has been in continuous publication since 1946 and the school newspaper has been printing for most of that time under a variety of nameplates including the Golden Gazette, the Yellowjacket, the Black and Gold Times and currently as the Inside Buzz. 

Galena park High School Web design began in 2007 and has developed into a popular elective choice.

Jacket-tv began in 2002 and has moved from closed circuit broadcast model to online news and information web cast, it continues to include new and up to date technologies.
