College Day was also a big hit. It was great seeing everyone showing their spirit for their favorite colleges and universities.

Congratulations to our new fifth grade teacher, Ms. Nañez! Ms. Nañez has been invited to present at the "National Learning, Leadership, and Practice: Educating Global Citizens" Educational Conference in Canada. The conference will bring together education researchers and experts, teachers, administrators, and graduate students who have theoretical and practical knowledge of the education of children and adults for global citizenship. Way to go Ms. Nañez!

The Character Education Themes for October are Compassion and Tolerance
Compassion is the act of trying to understand how other people feel during difficult times and
trying to reach out and help that person in some way. It is easy to dismiss the feelings of
others if we don’t take time to consider what they are experiencing, but it is not the right thing
Tolerance is sometimes hard to find. According to Robert Green Ingersoll, “ Tolerance is giving to every other human being every right that you claim for yourself.” It seems we should all want tolerance for others as we want it for ourselves.

2014 Internet Safety Poster Contest
Students submitted posters and 6 were sent to the district as finalist. District officials chose one campus winner. We are very proud of all our students who participated in the contest. A special Congratulations goes to Madison Gonzales for being selected as the Green Valley Elementary's Campus Winner!
