Your kindergartener is expected to know the following:
- All uppercase and lowercase letters and sounds (recognize and print)
- Recognize their own name in print
- Properly print first and last name
- Recognize 36 sight words (from gpisd list)
- Beginning and ending sounds
- Recognize and give examples of rhyming words
- How to sound out a word ( ex. B-a-t ; Bat)
- Write and form sentences
- Read age appropriate books and leveled readers
- Recognize numbers 1-20
- Count from 1 to 100
- Recognize 6 shape (circle, square, triangle, rhombus, rectangle, & oval)
- Match numbers to objects
- How to read a calendar
- How to make and interpret a graph
- Lunch number
- How to tie shoe laces, buckle belt, and tuck in shirts
- Birthday, address, and telephone number
We will work on the skills listed above as well as others not listed.
