What is SLC?

The structured learning classroom (SLC) is an evidence-based self-contained class for students between the grade levels of PreK-2nd throughout GPISD .  The purpose of the SLC is to discover why performance and skills deficits exist in order to re-teach new behaviors and tools that serve the same function for the student but which are more appropriate.  The goal of the SLC is to structure the environment so that is make sense to the student and new learning may take place.  The above is done by targeting antecedent conditions and consistently providing consequences (both positive and/or negative).  Four phases take place while the student is in the SLC:  compliance training, environmental application, inclusion training, and home campus training.
