Mustangs Help Community on Make a Difference Day

By Erin Hill

Make a Difference Day is a national day of helping others. The event was held on Saturday October 28, 2006. North Shore Middle School participated in Make a Difference Day for the first time this year. Ms O’Donovan was in this occasion. O’Donovan said, “I helped students paint a mural at Cloverleaf Elementary and do art projects. 11 or 9 students joined.” Ms. O’Donovan was joined by Ms. Huston and Ms Vasquez. Mr. Parrot and Ms. Walton supervised students at Silver Spring Nursing Home and read books and gave goody bags to the elderly. NSMS students also went to the North Channel Library. Students helped stock books and read to young children. Mr. Griffith’s students went to Walmart on Wallisville Road and held a food drive. The special education department made over 100 pillows for the children at Texas Children Hospital. Applebee’s sponsored a Food night to raise money to supply an Art Room for the Boys and Girls Club. All students were invited to participate in this event. Approximately 100 teachers and students were involved.
