Open House at North Shore Middle School
By Theresa Bolar
Open house was filled with fun and excitement as the students, parents and teachers met to discuss the school year. Most of the students were surprised to find out that they did not get in trouble. Tia Bruno said “most of the teachers did not have a lot to say about us kids.” she seemed very relieved of that. Parents seemed very interested in there child’s school work. As one parent, Mrs. Douglas said, “my child was supposed to read 30 minutes every day. I did not know that.”
However, the purpose of Open House was not to conference with parents about their child’s performance, but to simply meet and welcome the family to a new school year. Parents seemed pleased to meet there child’s teacher. The teachers were surprised at how many parents showed up, as Mr. Banks exclaimed, “Man so many parents came, I wish I would have brought my tape recorder!” Parents were also pleased because their child seemed to be in good hands. “All of the teachers are very organized,” said Mrs. Burkes. NSMS conducts Open House at the beginning of each school year.
