On January 10, 2007 approximately 675 8th graders went to the Museum of Natural Science to see the Benjamin Franklin Exhibit. The exhibit was in honor of Franklin’s 300th birthday. Franklin was an inventor, scientist, printer, writer, civic leader, revolutionary and international diplomat. On display were rare documents, artwork, and 40 different “hands-on” interactive inventions. On display were the original drafts of The 1754 Albany Plan, The Declaration of Independence, The Treaty of Amity and Commerce with France, The Treaty of Paris 1783, and The U. S. Constitution. “The field trip was better than planed,” said Mrs. Davis, 8th grade history teacher. “The field trip was the best experience ever,” exclaimed Jose Tores, 8th grade student.
