Mission Statement
To help develop each student to be emotionally, mentally, morally, physically and socially prepared to take his/her place in an ever-changing society.
Vision
The vision of NSMS is to prepare and lead the students of NSMS to be ready to enter high school with the skills needed to graduate in four years through rigorous instruction, and by offering classes where students can earn high school credit towards their graduation requirements while in middle school.

 

 

 

 

Summer Camp opportunities abound for students!

There are lots of summer camp opportunities for students this summer! Students must first call the number to get a confirmation number before choosing one of the payment options. If they are paying at NSMS, they will pay the school secretary in the front office.

Forms will be available in the front office for students to pick up beginning Monday (4/18). The window to register is April 25th through May 6th.

 

 

Join Team North Shore in fight against cancer!

North Shore MS will once again participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Students, teachers and staff can join, donate, and help fight this terrible disease by participating in the Relay on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 6pm to 1am.

District Internet Safety Poster Contest Results Announced

And North Shore's own Karina Alonso was named as a District Winner for her poster artwork. Her work was chosen via district voting out of all the other secondary campuses! Congratulations! Her artwork is below.

Community Collaborative for Proactive Parenting Meetings

GPISD will have seven community collaborative for proactive parenting meetings on various topics at the Zotz Education Center throughout the school year. All parents are encouraged to attend! New Student Portal Provides Online Access To Test Results

The Student Portal, delivered through Pearson Access, provides parents and students with online access to scores from the State of Texas
Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) and the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) assessments.

NSMS video students place in THGC Holocaust Video Contest

Two North Shore Middle School video crews have been chosen as winners by the Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission as part of their 2016 video contest! As part of their commemoration of Genocide Awareness and Prevention Month, the commission required that students submit their videos in the form of a news report on genocide and they had a strict time limit.
The Cambodian Genocide by 8th graders Katherine Parada, Martin Valdez, and Antonia Villegas, and The Pygmy Genocide by 8th graders Alan Ly, Jose Aguilera, and Eric Dominique. Winners will receive scholarship awards and are invited to join the Commission to receive recognition at a state meeting. NSMS video classes (part of Galena Park ISD Techology Applications) are taught by Mr. Steve Vaughn.

 

 

 

Congratulations to NSMS Teacher and Rookie of the Year!

Coach Brenda Wait was named as this year's Teacher of the Year and Ms. Dondria Lester was named as the Rookie of the Year for 2016! Congratulations!!

 

 

 

 

North Shore student wins Scholastic Silver Key Award

Sara Acuna was recognized at the Harris County Dept. of Education as a Silver Key Winner for her writing piece in this year's Scholastic Art & Writing Contest.

 

Founded in 1923, the Scholastic Awards program is the longest-running, most prestigious initiative of its kind, having fostered the creativity and talent of millions of students through recognition, exhibitions, publications and scholarships.

North Shore UIL Academic teams remain undefeated!

Last Saturday, Galena Park ISD held it's 5th Academic UIL meet for middle school at North Shore Senior High School. Students and coaches worked all year to prepare for the contest and it was a huge success as North Shore Middle School teams again captured the overall top 7th and 8th grade team trophies to remain undefeated! Competition was much harder this year as the other middle schools put up a big fight but NSMS students pulled through with the 7th grade team accumulating 193 points and the 8th grade accumulating 206 points! Congratulations to all NSMS coaches and students!

North Shore math teacher named ConocoPhillips Math Teacher of the Month!

Mrs. Melanie Perry, a seventh grade math teacher was honored at Minute Maid Park before an Astros game by ConocoPhillips as Math Teacher for the month of September! She's an awesome teacher! Congratulations!

 

 

NSMS Traffic Flow Plan for Parents

With over 1300 students, NSMS has a plan for pick-up and drop off in the mornings and afternoons.

Buses (blue arrows) drop off/pick up students in the front of the school and parents (red arrows) can only drop off/pick up students from the side of the school.
