PTA Meeting for April

North Shore Middle School will host its April PTA Meeting on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the school's Multipurpose Room. Topic: Investing in Your Child's Future.

We encourage all parents to get involved, attend meetings and join PTA.



Galena Park ISD Multimedia Festival

The annual district multimedia festival took place at the senior high on April 10. North Shore Middle had 6 campus winners and 4 district winners! Congratulations!

North Shore Middle Wins 2014 UIL Academic Competition again!

North Shore Middle, Woodland Acres Middle, Cunningham Middle, Galena Park Middle and Cobb 6th Grade Campus all participated in the 3rd annual UIL Academic Meet on Feb. 15 at North Shore Senior High and the 7th grade team and 8th grade team had the highest points overall for the 3rd year in a row! Congratulations to all the students who participated and the coaches who worked so hard.



Bad Weather Make-Up Day

As a result of the most recent inclement weather and two missed days of school, GPISD will comply with the Texas Education Agency's requirements by making up these days in accordance with the approved 2013-2014 calendar.

New Student Portal Provides Online Access To Test Results

The Student Portal, delivered through Pearson Access, provides parents and students with online access to scores from the State of Texas
Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) and the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) assessments.

Expectations for Spectators at District Events

Galena Park ISD will immediately implement expectations for spectator behavior at all athletic events. To gain more insight into these expectations, please read the letter from Vince Sebo, Director of Athletics.


Proactive Parenting - Parent Meetings

Proactive parenting parent meetings will be held once a month at the Zotz Education Center on Hollypark to promote postive parenting. Some of the topics that will be covered are healthy parenting, drug and tobacco awareness, bullying, teen pregnancy prevention and dating violence. Please see the schedule for more details.

'Stang Express newspaper honored with CSPA Gold Crown again!

Once again, the school newspaper was honored with a Gold Crown Award this past Friday, March 21, during the 90th Scholastic Convention at Columbia University in New York City.
The Crown Award represents the top 1% of scholastic journalism publications in the nation. The ‘Stang Express was one of only two middle school newspapers in the nation to win this prestigious award and this is a district first in middle/high school journalism.

North Shore Choir Dominates UIL Competition

The Non-Varsity Boys Choir Cantare competed at UIL for the first time and received a plaque for First Division ratings in Sight-Reading.
The Sub Non-Varsity Treble Choir Voce competed at UIL for the third time and received their first First Division Plaque on Stage.
The Non-Varsity Treble Choir Cantabile received their 2nd consecutive Sweepstakes!
The Varsity Treble Choir Bel Canto received their 15th consecutive Sweepstakes!
The Varsity Mens Choir Chorale received their 10th consecutive Sweepstakes!
The Varsity Mixed Choir received their 9th consecutive Sweepstakes!

We are joining forces with the American Cancer Society and participating in their Relay for Life (NSMS Mighty Mustangs). 2014 School History Fair packed with projects

North Shore MS students worked hard on history fair projects and they were judged on March 25. After judging, the winners were announced.

2014 Science Fair an Amazing Success!

North Shore MS students worked hard on science fair projects and then presented them to judges from across the community here on Feb. 12. After review projects and questioning students about their results the awards were given out.
