The general mission of North Shore Middle School is to help in the development of each pupil so that he/she may be emotionally, mentally, morally, physically, and socially prepared to take his/her place in an ever changing complex society.

North Shore Middle Wins 2014 UIL Academic Competition again!
North Shore Middle, Woodland Acres Middle, Cunningham Middle, Galena Park Middle and Cobb 6th Grade Campus all participated in the 3rd annual UIL Academic Meet on Feb. 15 at North Shore Senior High and the 7th grade team and 8th grade team had the highest points overall for the 3rd year in a row! Congratulations to all the students who participated and the coaches who worked so hard.
Registration for 2014-2015
NSMS students will begin registering for next year's classes soon. The schedule will be as follows:
8th graders: Thursday (3/6) - Friday (3/7) in all 3 labs during English classes.
Bad Weather Make-Up Day
As a result of the most recent inclement weather and two missed days of school, GPISD will comply with the Texas Education Agency's requirements by making up these days in accordance with the approved 2013-2014 calendar.

Expectations for Spectators at District Events
Galena Park ISD will immediately implement expectations for spectator behavior at all athletic events. To gain more insight into these expectations, please read the letter from Vince Sebo, Director of Athletics.
Proactive Parenting - Parent Meetings
Proactive parenting parent meetings will be held once a month at the Zotz Education Center on Hollypark to promote postive parenting. Some of the topics that will be covered are healthy parenting, drug and tobacco awareness, bullying, teen pregnancy prevention and dating violence. Please see the schedule for more details.

Internet Safety Poster Contest
Students, showcase your artistic talents and help raise awareness about internet safety at the same time. GPISD is hosting an Internet Safety Poster Contest and the theme for this year is “Don’t Be Mean on the Screen!”.
Original artwork inspired by the theme be turned in to your campus office, art teacher or your Technology Instructional Specialist by Friday, March 21, 2014.
Team up with North Shore Middle in the fight against cancer!
We are joining forces with the American Cancer Society and participating in their Relay for Life (NSMS Mighty Mustangs). We're recruiting faculty, staff, parents and students to participate this year. You can donate, participate/walk and cheer everyone on in support of the fight against cancer. 2014 Science Fair an Amazing Success!
North Shore MS students worked hard on science fair projects and then presented them to judges from across the community here on Feb. 12. After review projects and questioning students about their results the awards were given out.

'Stang Express Named as 2014 CSPA Crown Finalist
The 'Stang Express Newspaper was named as a 2014 Crown Finalist by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.
Last year, the newspaper won a Gold Crown, the nation's top award for scholastic journalism. This year, a total of 1,236 digital, newspapers, magazines and yearbooks published during the 2012-2013 academic year, from across the nation, were eligible for judging in the 2014 Crown Awards Program. All entries were judged at Columbia University from December 14-16, 2013, by the Board of Crown Judges. Publications were judged on writing/editing, design, content, concept, photography, art and graphics.
Scholastic Crown Award finalists will be presented with either a Gold or Silver Crown Award during the 90th Annual Convention, on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Columbia University in New York City.

New Student Portal Provides Online Access To Test Results
The Student Portal, delivered through Pearson Access, provides parents and students with online access to scores from the State of Texas
Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) and the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) assessments.

Skyward Family Access
Family Access is a web-based service that allows parents/guardians to view their child's information. Information available includes:
