To help develop each student to be emotionally, mentally, morally, physically and socially prepared to take his/her place in an ever-changing society.
The vision of NSMS is to prepare and lead the students of NSMS to be ready to enter high school with the skills needed to graduate in four years through rigorous instruction, and by offering classes where students can earn high school credit towards their graduation requirements while in middle school.

Skyward Family Access
Family Access is a web-based service that allows parents/guardians to view their child's information. Information available includes:
• Attendance records
• Student schedules
• Student grades
• General student information
New Student Portal Provides Online Access To Test Results
The Student Portal, delivered through Pearson Access, provides parents and students with online access to scores from the State of Texas
Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) and the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) assessments.
Specific information and how to access students' test scores can be found in English and Spanish here.
Each month, the district will focus on a particular character trait that our students should learn and use.

Galena Park ISD is offering FREE Parent Technology Training in English and Spanish for parents that have children enrolled in one of our schools starting on Monday, January 12, 2015. Child care will be provided. Register today!

Expectations for Spectators at District Events
Galena Park ISD will immediately implement expectations for spectator behavior at all athletic events. To gain more insight into these expectations, please read the letter from Vince Sebo, Director of Athletics.
Clueless about College/Careers!?
GPISD students and parents are encouraged to attend the 29th Annual Career & Education Day. Transportation will be provided by GPISD as needed. For more information about this event, please contact your child's school counselor.

NSMS Encounters students excel in National PTA Reflections Contest
The contest is a celebration of the arts and an opportunity for students to showcase their talents in the areas of Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Musical Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts.
This year, students were asked to respond through one of these mediums to the following theme: “The World Would be a Better Place If…” and judges chose district winners for each category to advance to state level judging. Students from North Shore Middle School were well represented this year as they won first place in five out of the six arts categories for the middle school division & their art will advance to state competition! Congratulations to our winners!

NSMS has a new Spelling Champion!
Eighth grader Cynthia Barragan won the 2014-2015 NSMS Spelling Bee! The winning word was 'cryonics'. She'll move on to represent NSMS at the GPISD Spelling Bee. Congratulations!
Art student wins GOLD!
Eighth grader Daniel Medina used Prismacolor pencils to draw, shade, and blend his Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Gold Medal Winner.
His artwork will be on display at Nrg Center during this year's Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo for all to see! Congratulations!
