The Character Education theme for the month of May is Trustworthiness. Keeping your promises is a great way to foster trust. People know you will follow through and do what you promised to do, so they will be able to put their trust in you. Always looking for a way out of what you promised will make people have less trust in you. If you want to be viewed as a responsible and trustworthy person, keep your promises.

Congratulations to Martha Flores

Employee of the Month

Employee of Month

Martha Flores

Martha Flores is our current Art teacher.  Mrs. Flores is originally from Monterrey, Mexico.  She studied medicine in her native country with a degree that specialized in Otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat).  She went on to study Education with a specialization in Art.  Mrs. Flores has been in education (medicine and art) for almost two decades.

Mrs. Flores came to the United States of America to start a family.  She and her husband, Javier are the proud parents of two boys and a girl (Patricio, Ramiro and Camila).

Mrs. Flores has worked with art her entire life and spends much of her free time working on art projects.  A particular favorite of hers is folk art and the repurposing of common objects for art.  Her artwork has been on display at the Lawndale Art Center and can even be seen in our own garden.  She used old car tires and repurposed them into decorative garden snails.  Mrs. Flores’ lifelong love of art has helped her to bring enrichment and joy to the Pyburn campus.

Way to go, Mrs. Flores!!!!
