Congratulations to Angie Cuellar

Employee of the Month

March 2015

Angelica Cuellar

aka “Library Lady”

“Always work hard and do your best” my dad would say every day as he dropped us off at school.  He worked two jobs to support his family of ten.  He made sure we all earned a college degree.   My mom cared for us and made sure we were thoughtful and generous people.

My parents’ influence drove me to become a teacher.  I wanted to help children and impact their learning.  It doesn’t seem like twenty-two years have passed since I became a bilingual first/second grade teacher at Pyburn Elementary.  It doesn’t seem it’s been twelve years since I returned and became the librarian.  When you enjoy what you do time seems inconsequential.

Teaching the children of my former students reminds me of why I love Pyburn.  Our community supports education and understands student success is a partnership between school and home.  Both staff and parents work diligently to ensure excellence.  I’m glad to be part of that team.

My other favorite team lives with me at home.  My husband of sixteen years has helped me expand my horizons and has given me two wonderful children.  Christian is a freshman in high school and Katarina is a sixth grader.  We enjoy watching movies together, traveling cross-country and making each other laugh.

I am honored to be the “Employee of the Month”, but I know I could not do all that I do without the support of my family and fellow staff members.

Way to go, Mrs. Cuellar!!!!
