Welcome to Supplemental Aids

The mission of the Galena Park Independent School District is to prepare students to become productive citizens and lifelong learners.

We feel that by engaging our students in exciting lessons that explore and incorporate higher level thinking skills we can assure success for all of our students.

Curriculum Corner is the portal for our successful teachers to come together and reach our common educational goal by enhancing lessons, engaging students, and increasing interactivity in the classroom.

Supplemental Aids

A supplemental aid is a resource that assists a student in recalling information.

Supplemental aids are for students receiving special education services and taking STAAR with accommodations or STAAR-Modified.  For 10th and 11th grade only, TAKS Accomodated or TAKS-M test takers will be allowed the use of supplemental aids. DO NOT choose all supplemental aids available for a content area:

  1. Only use what a student needs
  2. Only use what a student recognizes as classroom routine
  3. Only use what is documented in the ARD

Note: TEA does not have an approval process for non-allowable supplemental aids this year. Please access the following link for details regarding allowable supplemental aids for STAAR:

Accommodations for Students with Disabilities taking STAAR, STAAR Spanish, STAAR Modified, STAAR L, and TELPAS
