October 14-18, 2013 is National School Lunch Week
The theme for this year is "School Lunch across the USA"
This week provides us with the opportunity to reflect on the critical role the National School Lunch Program plays in promoting the health and well-being of tomorrow's leaders. We also recognize the talent and dedication of all the food service professionals, educators, program administrators, and parents whose time and energy help ensure America's students have the healthy food necessary to grow, learn, and succeed. Serving more than 31 million children every school day, the federally-funded National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides nutritionally balanced low-cost and free meals to students.
During our celebration of National School Lunch Week, our cafeteria workers will decorate the serving lines with posters and balloons according to the theme. Cafeteria staff will wear aprons and T-shirts with the logo of the theme. Some schools are going to be giving away the following; pencils, stickers, sport bottles, book markers, and activity guides.
