GPISD Honors Retired Educators

Houston, Texas: September 20, 2013 – GPISD recognized district and area retired educators with a special luncheon in their honor.  56 retired teachers, administrators, nurses, bus drivers, and other former employees attended the event.  GPISD Board of Trustees president, Mr. Jeff Miller, and vice president, Mr. Wilfred Broussard, Jr., also participated in the yearly luncheon designated to show the district’s appreciation for a lifetime of service to education.

Dr. Angi Williams, Superintendent of Schools, addressed the crowd and expressed how grateful the district was to the educators for the impact they have had on the lives of countless students.  Dr. Williams said, “This district is driven to SERVE, LEAD and LEARN. Your lifelong commitment to education and the students of GPISD has demonstrated what it truly means to follow this motto. Thank you for the legacy of your career!”

The retired educators were treated to a video presentation of GPISD’s first day of the 2013-14 school year, Senior Gold Cards, state accountability, and district safety and emergency management.  Senior Gold Cards allow free access to all regular GPISD performing arts and athletic events, excluding playoff games, for all GPISD residents 55 years of age and over. Please see for more details on the Senior Gold Card program.
