Galena Park ISD Rewarded for Energy Efficiency
Houston, Texas: Galena Park ISD accepted a check representing the cash incentives it earned in CenterPoint Energy's SCORE Lite Market Transformation Program. The SCORE Lite Program provides cash incentives to help Houston area schools save energy and money.
The District upgraded to energy efficient LED lighting in four different facilities and is completing more energy saving projects that will save both energy and money. “We're proud to serve as an energy efficient role model in the community,” said Ibrahim Abou-Awdi, CEM, CDSM, Lead Director of Facilities Management at Galena Park ISD.
The energy improvements will save 476,911 kilowatt-hours of energy annually - equal to the annual greenhouse gas emissions from 782,987 miles driven by an average vehicle, according to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency calculations.
“We're proud of the accomplishments Galena Park ISD made in the SCORE Lite Program and are pleased to reward its efforts,” said CenterPoint Energy Program Manager Kristi Hardy.
