GPISD Spelling Bee Champion
Houston, Texas: Galena Park ISD hosted its annual spelling bee at the GPISD Administration Building on Friday, February 6. Twenty students, one campus spelling bee winner from each of the elementary and middle school campuses, competed for a trophy and an opportunity to compete in the regional spelling bee. After numerous vigorous rounds of correctly spelling word after word, Cynthia Barragan from North Shore Middle School finally earned the title, “2015 GPISD Spelling Bee Champion.” Edelene Gomez from Galena Park Middle School was the runner up - an important position because if, for any reason, Cynthia is unable to participate in the regional bee, Edelene will compete in her place. The Regional Scripps Spelling Bee will be held at the University of Houston on Saturday, March 28, 2015. PBS will broadcast the event LIVE at 2:00 p.m
