Seventeen North Shore Athletes to Compete in Regional Swim Meet

Houston, Texas: The North Shore Senior High School Aquatics Team participated in the District 21-6A Swimming and Diving Championships at Deer Park High School on January 30-31. Friday was devoted to diving, and Kirk Phelps took that day as his own. Phelps claimed the district diving championship, shattering his own record in the process by over 38 points (321.70)! He was also named Dive Athlete of the Meet. Phelps will compete in the regional meet on Thursday, February 12 at Pearland ISD Natatorium.

Saturday was focused on swimming and North Shore was represented by a talented group of swimmers. The team placed second overall in the meet, and three more athletes claimed district championships in their events: Monica Flores (200 IM); Claire Marks (200 Free); and Anthony Vargas (200 IM). In addition to the district winners, the following swimmers will also be competing in the regional meet: Brenda Arguello (100 Free and 100 Breast); Alyssa Boudreau (200 Free); Samantha Cantu (200 IM and 500 Free); Nancy Calles (100 Back); Ashley Flores (200 Free and 50 Free); Jonathan Gaona (100 Breast); Alyssa Junco (100 Free); Trevor Morris (50 and 100 Free); Trevor Morris (50 and 100 Free); Makenna Pouland (500 Free); Omar Pintor (500 Free and 100 Back); Genesis Rios-Garza (200 Free and 100 Fly); Andrew Solis (200 IM and 100 Fly); Anthony Vargas-(200 IM and 100 Back); and Tyler Woosley (200 and 500 Free).
