Yellow Jackets Move on to Next Round of Playoffs
Houston, Texas: The Galena Park Yellow Jackets boys soccer team played their first playoff game of the season against Goose Creek Memorial on the evening of Friday, March 27. What started off seeming to be a walk in the park turned in to an interesting match. The Jackets led 4-0 after the first half, but with the sun in their eyes and the wind in their face, the Jackets struggled early in the second half. Midway through, Goose Creek had scored two goals. The Yellow Jackets fought back though, and scored one more goal, creating a bit of breathing room. When Goose Creek responded minutes later with another goal, the tension was palpable, but the Jackets defense remained strong and the boys in black & gold clinched the win 5-3. The Jackets had some notable performances from Oscar Teran and Jose Torres, who scored two goals each, along with Erik Patino who had one goal and two assists.
The Jackets travel to Terry High School in Rosenberg, Texas, on Thursday, April 2, for their second round playoff game. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
