Students Fill Food Pantry

Houston, Texas: This time of year, when the needs seem greater than ever, students from MacArthur Elementary School decided to give back. As part of their annual “Stuff the Turkey” food drive, MacArthur Elementary collected 6,852 cans of food for the Galena Park Judge Wilford Biggs Food Pantry. On Friday, November 21, as students were getting out of school for the Thanksgiving break, the student council delivered all the items to the food pantry and completed their cycle of service to others. “Some of these students brought in over 200 cans of food,” said Lecia Eubanks, MacArthur Elementary principal. “These aren't wealthy kids, but they are kids who care. We try to give them opportunities to learn about giving and ways to put it in to practice. These kids and their families rise to the occasion every year,” she added.
