NSSHS Student Lauded by National Merit Program
Houston, Texas: Senyo Ahadize, a senior at North Shore Senior High School, is one of only 16,000 high school students in the nation to be named a 2015 National Merit Scholar Semi-Finalist. He will now continue to compete for a portion of the $33 million of National Merit Scholarships that will be offered in Spring 2015.
To be considered for a National Merit Scholarship, semi-finalists and their high schools must submit a detailed scholarship application in which they provide information about the student's academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, and honors and awards received.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation is a non-profit organization that was established in 1955. Its scholarships are underwritten by its own funds and approximately 500 business organizations and higher education institutions that share its goals of honoring the nation's scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence.
