GPISD's William F. "Bill" Becker Early Childhood Center Celebrates 25 Years of Touching Lives

Houston, Texas: On Tuesday, May 10, 2016, the William F. "Bill" Becker Early Childhood Center opened its doors to celebrate 25 years of successful service. With little ones running about, day care providers conducted business as usual as members from the community, students and staff from the past, and current students receiving services joined together to celebrate the success of the Pregnancy Education and Prevention and Early Head Start programs. A brief program was presented, beginning with Dr. Mechelle Epps, Senior Director for Educational Support, and ended with visions of the future by Superintendent, Dr. Angi Williams. Also included was a testimonial given by former student and teen parent Melanie Gonzalez who spoke about the impact the center made on her life as a young parent and how it afforded her the opportunity to complete her education, allowing her to become the flourishing mother and professional she is today.

Guests were invited to tour the facility and learn about the many services offered. Everyone enjoyed refreshments and departed with a keepsake commemorating the day.
