New Arrival Center Students Host Wax Museum

Houston, Texas: The students in the New Arrival Center at North Shore Middle School donned their costumes and wigs and put on quite a show during this year's Wax Museum. The annual event revolves around students selecting a famous American who made a positive contribution to the United States, researching that person and then creating a presentation and speech about what they learned.

Students have been preparing for the event for the past four months, putting together slideshows, painting murals, assembling books, word clouds and tri-fold bulletin presentations and rehearsing their speeches in English and Spanish on their chosen historical figure.

Parents, teachers/administrators and fellow students came in, chose the historical figure they wanted to hear about and would step on the 'English' or 'Spanish' button next to the student. That student, in costume and standing next to their tri-fold, would then recount who their character was and what their exploits/accomplishments were.
