Spring Signing Day

Houston, Texas: On Tuesday, May 24, 2016, twenty-two students from the Galena Park Independent School District signed letters of intent to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. To celebrate their accomplishments, parents, coaches and district administrators gathered to honor the dedication and commitment by each student to their academic career and chosen sport.

Vince Sebo, Athletic Director for Galena Park ISD, inspired the students to make the most of this moment and cherish the memory. He stressed the importance of focusing on academics, reiterating that the ultimate goal of college is to walk across the stage with a degree. David Handal, GPHS Athletic Coordinator, advised students to continue using morals and values instilled by their parents and the educational system to continue making good decisions. As each student was announced, their coach shared examples of the student’s accomplishments, statistics, hard work and dedication. The student-athletes were also encouraged to remember Galena Park ISD, and one day to return to the community to share their experiences and successes.
