Galena Park ISD Honors Veterans
Houston, Texas: On November 11, 2015, Galena Park ISD hosted its annual Veterans Day luncheon. More than 100 of the Nation's finest attended and were met with smiles of appreciation from the GPISD administration who were on hand to serve the esteemed guests. During a lunch prepared by the GPISD Food Services Department, the North Shore Senior High School Choir treated the vets to a patriotic choral performance. In addition, Anthony Lezama, a fourth grader from Woodland Acres Elementary school read a letter he wrote to honor all who served our country through military service:
A selection of letters written by various GPISD students were printed and placed on each table for the veterans to take with them as reminders of the appreciation Galena Park ISD and the community holds for each of them. These heroes are the very men and women who have served, and continue to serve, as keepers of our nation's most fundamental and cherished principles. They willingly offered themselves as a sacrifice to protect the freedoms Americans enjoy each day. Our community and nation are forever in their debt.
