Requirements:

Sub Grounds

To mow, trim, and provide detailed maintenance to all landscaped areas on district grounds.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification: 

Texas Driver’s License-insurable by the district’s carrier

High School Diploma or GED (preferred) 

  

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to operate most types of small commercial grounds maintenance equipment

(i.e. motorized trimming equipment, mowers)

 Ability to perform detail maintenance in landscape bed areas 

 Minimum Experience: 

One year of groundskeeping or related experience is preferred

Description:

JOB TITLE:     Sub Grounds                     

HOURLY:       $7.75 Minimum Hrly                                     

REPORTS TO:            Director of Grounds                                                            

DEPT/SCHOOL:         Grounds Department   

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 

1.       Mowing and trimming grass on all district grounds. 

2.       Edging sidewalks, curbs and drives.

3.              Maintain appropriate level of cleanliness on sites (i.e. litter pick-up, other debris   

           clean-up limbs, etc., cleaning sidewalks).

4.       Planting and maintaining trees, seasonal flowers, shrubs on all district grounds and

          landscaped areas.

5.       Assist other workers or crews as assigned. 

6.       Perform preventative maintenance and light repairs on all grounds equipment used.  

7.       Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Crew Leader.  

EQUIPMENT USED: 

Line trimmers, leaf blowers, walk-behind mowers, priming equipment, chain saws,

power edgers, small riding mowers (60” or less), various other hand tools, pick up trucks,

ladders  

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Mental Demands:

Ability to communicate. Ability to get along with others and work together as a team.

Ability to exhibit a friendly, courteous attitude toward customers.        

Physical Demands / Environmental Factors:

Heavy lifting; constant standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and walking. 

Exposure to seasonal weather changes, temperature extremes (hot/cold), unleveled surfaces,

heavy machinery with moving parts and hydraulics, exposure to noisy, loud equipment,

and exposure to dangerous chemicals or materials, and engine exhausts. 

Regular attendance.
