| Dear Parents,
If you get or pay child support through the Harris County District
Clerk and you're moving, this is for you.
You need to keep your address up to date with us. (In fact, it's
required by court order.)
Here's how:
To update an address, send the Harris County District Clerk a
written request that shows your cause number and your old and
new addresses, sign the request and include a copy of your state-issued
identification (usually a driver's license). You can fax the request
to 713-755-4359 or mail it to District Clerk Charles Bacarisse,
1115 Congress, Room 10, Houston, TX 77002. (Your address is kept
confidential and the District Clerk's Office will not release
it without a court order.)
This information also can be obtained through the District Clerk's
interactive voice response system at 713-755-6077 or our Web site,
www.hcdistrictclerk.com.
Parents also should make sure this change of address is on file
with the post office.
Direct deposit is available for the use of custodial parents.
It is far safer and more convenient way to receive your payment.
However, custodial parents using direct deposit still must inform
the District Clerk's Office of any change of address.
Here's how to establish direct deposit with the District Clerk's
Office:
Send a written, signed request, noting your cause number, include
a copy of your state-issued identification and include your bank's
name, your bank account number, your bank's nine-digit routing
number (the bank will tell you what it is) and note whether your
account is a checking or a savings account.
You can either fax the information to 713-755-4359 or mail it
to District Clerk Charles Bacarisse, 1115 Congress, Room 10, Houston,
TX 77002. It will take approximately 15 business days from the
time of the request to activate the direct deposit. During that
time, checks will be mailed to the address on file.
