GPISD board approves compensation and
staffing budget

The Galena Park ISD board of trustees stepped out before other districts and approved a compensation and staffing package for the 2003-2004 school year. The district believes it is important to take action as early as possible so employees can approach the summer knowing their jobs are secure and they will be receiving a fair and competitive salary for the upcoming school year.
This is an appropriate response to the state budget crisis. This package reflects a significant belt tightening by every department and campus. It provides a fair and competitive raise for every district employee while being sensitive to the needs of employees at every level. It improves GPISD’s teacher salary ranking among area districts and supports the GPISD employees who are called to active military duty. Most importantly, this package keeps classroom instruction first.
