Odyssey of the Mind teams from Cobb Sixth Grade Campus and North Shore High School have advanced to the World Finals Competition to be held at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan from May 23-27.
A team must first win the region competition and then place first or second in state to advance to the World Finals. The Cobb Sixth Grade team placed first at both the region and state competition to advance. The team from North Shore High School, comprised of all freshmen, placed first in region and second in the state to advance.
Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Students apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. More than 6,000 students from all over the world will compete in the World Finals.
Members of the team from Cobb Sixth Grade Campus are: Shannon Varghese, Kevin Yee, Zachary Fradette, Craig Bonner, Roland Doyal, Cindy Ventura and Heath Hampton. Coaching the Cobb team are Sheila Wilson and Larry Wilson, Darlene Beauvais and Jared Fradette.
Members of the North Shore Middle School team are Kira Golden, Cynthia Alejandre, Megan McCoy, Brittany Boyett, Guillermo Colomo and Tyler Simms. Coaches are Tammy Norman and Jason Norman.
