Whitney Johnson, a sophomore at North Shore High School, advanced to the University Interscholastic League (UIL) State Track Meet by winning the girls long jump and triple jump at the Region III Track Meet at Humble High School on April 28.
Whitney, who is coached by Adam Callahan, and Reggie Wallace, won the long jump with a distance of 19 feet, 3 inches. She also won the triple jump with a distance of 38 feet, 6 inches. That is the best jump in Texas this year.
Whitney will compete in the State Meet at the University of Texas in Austin on Saturday, May 12. The girls 5A long jump begins at 11:30 a.m. and girls 5A triple jump begins at 4 p.m.
