Sergio Gonzalez Jr., a senior at Galena Park High School, was recognized as the Galena Park ISD Student of the Month during the Nov. 3 North Area Channel Chamber of Commerce luncheon in the Monument Room of San Jacinto Junior College.
Gonzalez is a leader in the classroom as well as on the football field. He has taken Advanced Placement classes in the core subjects since he entered Galena Park High School and has even taken college classes at San Jacinto College the past two years. He is currently ranked 13th out of 334 students in the senior class. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, the PRIDE Club and was selected as the school's representative at American Legion Boys State and is cited for “Who’s Who Among America’s High School Students.” Gonzalez is also on the school’s Academic Decathlon team.
He is a three-year letterman in football and has also played baseball for the Yellowjackets. He has maintained a grade point average of 4.15 out of a 4.5 scale.
