Galena Park High School student receives $1,000 scholarship

Galena Park High School student Adrian Maldonado received a $1,000 scholarship through the Reliant Energy Scholarship for Champions program.
            Maldonado is ranked number two in the senior class and is a member of the track and football teams. He is treasurer of the National Honor Society and is president of his track class council. Maldonado caught a 48-yard touchdown pass in the Yellowjackets victory over Katy Seven Lakes on Sept. 14.
            Maldonado was presented the check by Jared Zambransky, former quarterback of the Houston Texans. He will also be honored before the Houston Texans upcoming game on Sept. 22 against the Indianapolis Colts at Reliant Stadium.
            The Scholarship for Champions program awards eight scholarships to Houston-area high school student-athletes who have exhibited remarkable leadership in athletics, academics, and extracurricular activities.
