TRUSTEES APPROVE COMPENSATION PACKAGE |

Every employee in Galena Park ISD will receive a pay increase for the 2008-2009 school year thanks to the compensation package approved by the Board of Trustees during the July 14 regular Board meeting. The compensation package for 2008-2009 includes a starting teacher salary of $43,000. That measure, which was approved in April, provides teachers, counselors, librarians and nurses with a $2,000 raise over their 2007-2008 salaries. All other employees will receive a 3 percent of their respective midpoint pay increase. “Our Board has once again stepped up to the plate and provided our deserving employees with a pay raise. With rapidly increasing utility costs and shrinking budgets this becomes more difficult each and every year,” said Dr. Mark Henry, superintendent of schools. “I sincerely hope that all of our employees are enjoying the summer and will take time to thank our Trustees for their continued support upon their return to duty.” |
