REGISTRATION FOR PRE-KINDERGARTEN AND KINDERGARTEN

           The Galena Park Independent School District will hold registration on all elementary campuses for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students for the 2008-2009 school year. Registration will be held Wednesday, Aug. 13, from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., Thursday, August 14 from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Friday, August 15 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. 
           Students enrolling in pre-kindergarten must be 4-years-old before September 1, 2008 and students enrolling in kindergarten must be 5-years-old before September 1, 2008.

Required documents for enrollment in Pre-kindergarten a & Kindergarten levels are as follows:

Original Birth Certificate
Social Security Card
Immunization Record*
Proof of Residency

Residency Requirements

  • House
    -Valid Texas Driver’s License/ID
    -Current Utility Bill (Electric, Gas, Water) designating service address and resident’s name
  • Apartment
    -Valid Texas Driver’s License/ID
    -Valid lease agreement listing ALL occupants of the household
  • Living with a GPISD Resident
    -Valid Texas Driver’s License/ID
    -Address Verification Form - completed & notarized
    -Valid Texas Driver’s License/ID of GPISD resident designating resident address
    -Current Utility Bill (Electric, Gas, Water) designating GPISD resident and service address

*The following is a list of immunizations the child will need to enter school:

DPT                  - 5 shots at least one after 4th birthday

OPV/Polio          - 4 shots at least one after 4th birthday

MMR                 - 2 shots at least one after 1st birthday

HIB                    - 1 after 1st birthday

Hepatitis B           - #1, #2, and #3

Hepatitis A           -  2 shots after 1st birthday

Varicella or letter from parent stating the child has already had chicken pox

Pneumococcal     - 4 shots or 1 after 24 months and before 59 months
