Huston honored by North Channel Area Chamber of Commerce

Erin Huston, choir director at North Shore Middle School, was recognized as the Galena Park ISD Educator of the Month during the May 2 North Area Channel Chamber of Commerce luncheon in the Monument Room of San Jacinto College North.
Huston started her teaching career eight years ago with Galena Park ISD. She is a graduate of Bowie High School in Austin, and she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas State University (formerly known as Southwest Texas State University) in 2000. In 2006 she was named to Who’s Who Among American Teachers. Erin is also the co-director for the Hill Country Choral Camp at Texas State University.
Since taking over the choir program at North Shore Middle School in 2000, Erin’s choirs have earned numerous awards and honors. This year alone the choir won more than 200 medals at the Solo and Ensemble Competition, and received an unprecedented four Sweepstakes trophies at the UIL Concert and Sight-reading Contest.
In her spare time, you might find Erin in the kitchen cooking a meal to enjoy with friends, indulging her love of reading, or spending some quality time with her dog Maya.
