Couch honored by North Channel Area Chamber of Commerce

North Shore High School teacher Jeff Couch was recognized as the Galena Park ISD Educator of the Month during the Nov. 2 North Area Channel Chamber of Commerce luncheon in the Monument Room of San Jacinto College North.
Jeff is from Lubbock, Texas and is a graduate of Texas Tech University.  He is in his 15th year of teaching at North Shore and currently teaches Advanced Placement World History and Pre-AP World History
Jeff is also the lead social studies teacher at North Shore and the Head Tennis Coach.  He says that his favorite thing about teaching is having the opportunity to motivate students to achieve more than they thought possible.  He has received several nominations for Teacher of the Year and was a finalist for the Frank R. Kemerer Excellence in Teaching Award in 2007.
His students have twice honored him with a “Dazzling Diamond” award.  The Dazzling Diamond Gala is held every spring and every student in the top 5 percent of their graduating class is able to honor one teacher who made a difference in their life. Teaching is in his family’s bloodlines and that all started with his great grandmother. His wife Brandi is also a teacher at North Shore.  They have a 3-year-old son named Churchill Reagan.
“Jeff is by far the best teacher I’ve ever worked with in my almost 20 years in this business,” said John Moore, principal. “He has a fantastic relationship with his students and works his hardest every day to be the best teacher that he can be.”

Shown from the Nov. 2 Chamber of Commerce luncheon are (l-r): Stephanie Schroeder, chairperson for the Chamber of Commerce’s Education Committee; Jeff Couch; and John Moore, principal at North Shore High School.
