FFA students in Galena Park ISD will have the opportunity to display their hard work during the 5th annual Livestock Show, November 15-17 at the district Agricultural Facility, 2000 Holland Ave.
Students will begin checking in market rabbits, market steers, GPISD heifers and specialty projects: food, art, photography and horticulture at 3 p.m. on Thursday, November 15. Judging for broilers, market rabbits and specialty projects will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the GPISD market steer following the market rabbit judging and the GPISD heifer show following the market steer show.
The schedule for Friday, November 16 includes the floral design competition at 4 p.m., and check-in for market goats, lambs and swine at 5 p.m. The market swine show begins at 5:30 p.m., the market lamb show at 6 p.m. and the market goat show at 6:30 p.m. Students will check-in open goats, sheep and swine at 5:30 p.m. The open goat show begins at 7:30 p.m. in ring A. The open swine show begins at 7:30 p.m. in ring B with the open sheep show to follow.
In addition to viewing student projects, those attending the event will have the opportunity to purchase live plants, live floral arrangements, art, photography and livestock.
