TRUSTEES HONOR THOSE WHO HELPED OTHERS

North Shore Senior High School students Alan Alvarez, Drew Lyles and Hector Salazar and Lance Lyles, principal at Galena Park Elementary, were honored by the Board of Trustees during the Oct. 6 school board meeting.
The four were honored for their generosity and hard work in helping others immediately after Hurricane Ike as they teamed up to remove limbs, trees, fences and other debris from 13 houses and one church in just five days. All were offered money for their labor and they all turned it down.
A tree service showed up at the home of an elderly gentleman and tried to charge the man $1,500 for cleaning debris from his yard. The three young men and principal performed that service for free.
