“While our primary concern is to provide a safe place for children after school, we will offer a variety of activities to assist them with their current academics as well as introduce them to new ideas and experiences, which they can carry with them in the future. It is our hope that every child can develop a life-long love for learning, which will carry them through to high school graduation, a college education, and into their adult life,” said Charmaine Hines, program director of school initiatives and grants.
The 21st Century Programs have various starting dates and operating times and days, depending on the cycle for funding. All students that participate will receive a snack after school, homework assistance, academic tutorials as recommended by the teaching staff, and bus transportation, if needed. Students will have the opportunity to select enrichment activities that they choose to participate in on a semester-by-semester basis. There is no fee to be a participant in the after school program. There is a mandatory registration form that must be filled out in its entirety in order to participate.
The grant also requires that parents of students enrolled in the program participate in family member activities/classes. In order to secure ongoing funding, parental participation in these activities is necessary. Parents interested in having their child participate in any of the after school program activities should complete the on-line application and return it via email to email@example.com or print and return the application to the student’s campus.
