Flores Honored at Chamber Luncheon

Lauren Flores, a senior at North Shore Senior High School, was recognized as the Galena Park ISD Student of the Month during the February 6 North Channel Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon in the Monument Room of San Jacinto College North.
With her 24 points on January 27, Lauren Flores, a senior point guard for the North Shore Lady Mustangs, broke the school’s all-time scoring record of 2,200 career points on January 27. The Lady Mustangs are currently 23-4 and ranked #5 in the area by the Houston Chronicle. Flores was also honored as the Houston Chronicle Basketball Player of the Week during the week of Feb. 3
“It’s amazing to think how many points Lauren could have if she wasn’t such a selfless player,” said head coach Allison Campbell. “Lauren is always looking to get the ball to her other teammates and set them up to score. We’ve actually had to tell her to be more selfish and shoot the ball more.”
Flores, who signed with the University of Texas in November, has led the Lady Mustangs to an incredible 111-21record with two district titles and one appearance in the regional quarterfinals during her years at North Shore. She was named MVP of District 22-5A and All-Region and All-State by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches and All-State by the Texas Girls Coaches Association as a junior.
She averaged 22.1 points per game, while dishing out 6.1 assists per game and grabbing 7.1 rebounds per game in her junior year. She also shot 47 percent from the field was named to the second team Houston Chronicle All-Greater Houston Team.
Flores was a unanimous selection to the District 22-5A first team All-District as a sophomore and was the District 23-5A Newcomer of the Year as a freshman.
