Woody Honored at Chamber Luncheon

Sarah Woody, fifth grade teacher at MacArthur Elementary, was recognized as the Galena Park ISD Educator of the Month during the February North Channel Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon in the Monument Room at San Jacinto College North.
Woody received the Texas Elementary Teacher of the Year Award from the Texas Council for Teachers of English and Language Arts (TCTELA) in Austin in January. She began her career at MacArthur Elementary in August 2004 and has taught fifth grade and served as grade level chair since.
Woody also created an after-school campus reading program called the "COBRA" club.  She is an avid runner and just finished the Houston Half Marathon. Woody participates annually in raising money for the Race for the Cure that raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer.
