Simms Honored at Chamber Luncheon

Shelby Simms, an eighth-grade student at Galena Park Middle School, was recognized as the Galena Park ISD Student of the Month during the May North Channel Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon in the Monument Room at San Jacinto College North.
Shelby, who is president of the National Junior Honor Society, has the highest grade point average of any student at Galena Park Middle School. She has been in pre-AP and Encounters classes throughout her entire middle school years.
Shelby has been active in choir and student council since fourth grade. She has been named to the Honor Roll almost every year and is active in the San Jacinto chapter of Girl Scouts.
She also participated in volleyball, basketball and track and was presented with the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Highest Attainable Social Studies grade award.
"Shelby has accomplished so many wonderful things and has done so with such a positive attitude, she has never received a discipline referral. She is a great representative of Galena Park Middle School," said Chris Blake, principal.
