Carrasco Honored at Chamber Luncheon

Richard Carrasco, a senior at Galena Park High School, was recognized as the Galena Park ISD Student of the Month during the March North Channel Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon in the Monument Room at San Jacinto College North.
Carrasco is the first chair trumpet player in the Galena Park High School “Band of Gold”, serves as the Band Librarian, and recently was selected from more than 2,500 students to advance to the prestigious Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) 4A All State Band.
He is the first Band of Gold member to make All State Band member since 2007 and only the second since 1999. Richard began playing trumpet in the sixth grade and has advanced into the Region XIX Band several times. Richard's hobbies include music, sports and dancing.
He plans on attending Texas A&M University or the University of Texas and major in engineering.
"Richard has a tremendous amount of natural talent but he put in hours of work, I’m talking 4-6 hours of practice every day, to get better and advance to the level he is at now," said Mark Richard, band director at Galena Park High School.
