Ortuno Honored at Chamber Luncheon

Richard Ortuno, an eighth-grade student at Cunningham Middle School, was recognized as the Galena Park ISD Student of the Month during the April North Channel Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon in the Monument Room at San Jacinto College North.
Ortuno is a straight A-Honor Roll student with perfect attendance at Cunningham. He is a member of the pentathlon team and enjoys math competitions since he is mathematically oriented. He is also in the Cunningham Middle School Encounters Program, Scholar’s Academy and Band.
He plays the baritone in the band and earned unanimous ones in the most recent UIL Band contest.  Ortuno is currently enrolled in all Pre-AP classes. His goal is to be successful and attend college. Listening in class, doing homework ahead of time and staying organized helps Richard keep straight A’s.
"Richard is a focused young man whose hard work will one day positively impact many," said Billy Foster, principal at Cunningham Middle School.
