2011 Region IV Teacher of the Year

        On August 10, 2011, Kimberly Martin, a teacher in Galena Park ISD since 2003, was named the Region IV Secondary Teacher of the Year. Most recently she taught US History, AP US History and AP Psychology at North Shore Senior High School. Martin is no stranger to awards. Her rookie year she won both the North Shore Senior High School and Galena Park ISD Rookie Teacher of the Year Award. She was a two-time Texas History Teacher of the Year finalist, and she was selected as a GPISD "Dazzling Diamond" numerous times – an award where top ranked students in the district select a teacher who had a positive impact in their life. Now Ms. Martin is in the running for Texas Education Agency's Texas Teacher of the Year.

        This summer she accepted the Academic Dean position at Barbers Hill High School, where she will continue to have a positive impact on students.
